As much as we may love the Bible, I think we oftentimes think of turning to it only when we feel the need for comfort or strength or direction. I know I have been guilty of that.

But the Bible is also so full of joy and happiness and excitement! Who should be more filled with joy than the people who were saved from destruction and who now worship a God who loves to bless? And we shouldn’t keep that happiness to ourselves. God, our loving Father and Creator, wants us to turn to Him in every moment, with every emotion, good or bad! He wants to share our hearts, even the little moments of happiness.

So here’s a list of 21 verses you can read and rejoice in through those moments when God is blessing you or when God is filling you with excitement about the future or when you are just filled with gladness at the thought of His salvation. He wants to talk with you about it. So read these verses, and then celebrate with Him, the author of all joy!


Philippians 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!

Psalm 139:14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well.

Psalm 16:11 You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

Psalm 118:1 Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.

Psalm 44:1 Then I will go to the altar of God, to God my exceeding joy; and on the harp I will praise You, O God, my God

Habakkuk 3:19 Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation

And in those moments when we don’t feel any joy, we just need to remember that these verses are still true and that resting in the Lord in any situation can always bring joy. Even some of these very verses were written in the middle of sorrow or worry, including Habukkuk 3:19, a portion of a hymn about joy in the Lord through difficulty.
